CAMPUS TELEVIDEO ACQUIRES X-WIRES BROADBAND
Data Services to Enhance Custom ResNet Solutions
Greenwich, CT – Campus TeleVideo, a leading provider of custom cable TV, data and voice services to over 220 colleges and universities nationwide, has acquired X-Wires Broadband, an Internet management, resource and support services company specializing in higher education and other multi-user environments. Enhanced video, voice and data solutions will now be offered through Campus TeleVideo to the higher education community, and through the renamed Xwires Communications division to off-campus student housing property owners.
“The addition of Xwires under the Campus TeleVideo umbrella allows us to add to our suite of existing ResNet solutions, offering a true one-stop-shop for higher education IT departments,” said Brian Benz, CEO of Campus TeleVideo. “Residential data service started as an add-on for higher education CIOs, but is becoming increasingly complex with issues such as technical support, security, bandwidth management and illegal file sharing. The growing trend of outsourcing these services allows CIO’s to instead focus on mission critical administrative and teaching technology requirements.”
Ben Anderson, the founder of X-Wires Broadband, has assumed the position of Director of Data Services for Campus TeleVideo and the Xwires division. He and other Xwires employees will continue to operate out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where an operations center will remain. Xwires’ headquarters will relocate to Greenwich.
“After working alongside the Campus TeleVideo team for several years, the time was right for us to unite, as communication technology continues to merge and evolve,” said Anderson. “This new entity will allow both Campus TeleVideo and Xwires to pool expertise and resources, allowing us to offer broader services to both on and off-campus customers.”
“As a customer of both Campus TeleVideo and Xwires for several years, we feel that both companies truly understand the types of ResNet services our on-campus student’s demand,” said Tony Bata, Director of IT, Coe College. “In addition, they’ve provided the college’s administration with the reliability and customer service that we need to continue to focus on our core duty of running a college.”
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
